Looking back: Exhibition in VondelCS

Last summer I had the honour to be part of the group show, the Opium TorenkamerEXPO @ VondelCS in Amsterdam.

Three large paintings from the "Baby Blue" series were exhibited, as well as all illustrations from the M/Magnetic series (including a large painting).

From my work also illustrations from The Vulva Gallery were shown, including two larger vulva paintings.

Publication on Eugene Weekly

I had the honour to make illustrations for the Pride issue of Eugene Weekly (August 2017); one for the cover and one accompanying accompanying this issue's lead story about bisexual invisibility, written by Kelly Kenoyer.

Working as artist in residence @ De Torenkamer for Radio4

This week I'll be working as artist in residence at De Torenkamer for the Dutch radio show "Opium" (Radio4). From Monday till Friday I'll be working and living in Vondel CS (Vondelpark, Amsterdam), and I'll be making a new painting. This painting is part of a new series of portraits I've been working on for the past two months.

I'll be interviewed about the work and the process on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 11pm. On Friday my work will be revealed during the live radio show.

You can follow the process >>HERE<<

Collaboration with She Blooms

"Celebrate your first period!"

I'm collaborating with She Blooms, a wonderful project with as main focus to let mothers and daughters in South Africa communicate about menstruation and female sexuality, leading to a more a happy and safe sexual development. In 4 sessions they teach the mothers everything there is to know about the menstruation cycle. In a creative and positive way they work on investigating the physical, emotional and mental side of the cycle. They are also stimulated to share their stories and experiences. At the last session She Blooms give the mothers a personal period soap. The soap is a gift for their daughters and can be seen as a new ritual for mothers to share with their daughters once they’ve menstruated for the first time and officially become a woman. It also serves as a conversational piece to start talking about menstruation. I made two illustrations for She Blooms, and they will be part of the soap box.

She Blooms is still in their crowdfunding phase, so feel free to donate and support their beautiful project!
